Using the example of politics in the city of Lucerne, this lesson booklet focuses on the processes and institutions of the democratic system. Diversity of opinion, opportunities for political participation, the principle of representation and the function of political parties as well as the federal structure of the Swiss Confederation can be described and experienced. The teaching material was developed on the basis of Curriculum 21 and is intended to facilitate an understanding of political processes, arouse interest and thus prepare pupils to participate in the political system.
